Articles in the publication process
The withdrawal of a manuscript in progress may be considered in the following circumstances:
- Request by the authors: authors may request the withdrawal of the manuscript at any stage prior to publication. Reasons may include errors in the data, changes in the research focus, additional findings that require substantial revision, or strategic decisions regarding publication in other media.
- Procedure: authors must submit a formal request to the editor, explaining the reasons for withdrawing the manuscript. The editor shall evaluate the request and confirm the withdrawal as long as no ethical or other irregularities are detected.
- Ethical issues: If during the review process it is identified that the manuscript contains plagiarism, data manipulation, lack of ethical approval (where applicable), or any other violation of research ethics standards, the Editorial Committee may decide to withdraw it.
- Procedure: authors will be notified and given the opportunity to respond before a final decision is made.
- Undeclared conflicts of interest: when a significant undeclared conflict of interest is discovered that compromises the objectivity or transparency of the results, the manuscript may be withdrawn.
- Failure to meet deadlines by authors: If authors fail to meet the deadlines set for responding to reviewers' comments or for making corrections requested by the editorial team, the manuscript may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Editorial Committee, which will notify the authors of this decision.
The journal adopts this policy in order to ensure transparency in the editorial process and ethical responsibility. The editorial team is committed to handling requests for withdrawal fairly and promptly, in accordance with international standards of publication and scientific ethics.
Published articles
The withdrawal of an article is an extreme measure and will only be applied in cases where the presence of the article in the journal's archive compromises the scientific, ethical or legal integrity of the publication. Criteria that would justify withdrawal include:
- Defamation, infringement of rights and violation of privacy: when an article has been determined to be defamatory, has infringed copyright, or contains information that violates the privacy of individuals or institutions.
- Risk of harm: if the content of the article, in form or substance, contains inaccurate or false information that could jeopardise health, public safety or welfare, the Editorial Committee may consider its withdrawal.
- Other legal or ethical reasons: other exceptional circumstances that compromise publication ethics or academic integrity may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Procedure for the withdrawal of articles
a) Identification and evaluation: the request for withdrawal may come from the authors, reviewers, readers, or competent authorities. The Editorial Committee will carefully evaluate each request for withdrawal to verify that the criteria described above are met.
b) Review and decision: if it is determined that the withdrawal is justified, the Editorial Committee will notify the authors and take the adequate measures to proceed with the withdrawal. If the withdrawal is not justified, the Editorial Committee will consider alternative options, such as a withdrawal or the publication of errata.
c) Implementation of the withdrawal: once the withdrawal has been approved, the article will be removed from the online version of the journal and from any databases and repositories in which it has been distributed. The page where the article was hosted will include a withdrawal notice in its place, briefly explaining the reason for the withdrawal for transparency with readers.
