Data availability
Empirical articles must include a statement of data availability, specifying whether the data is accessible (and where) or, failing that, justifying why it is not being shared. Authors are also invited to share complementary information that facilitates the replication of the research, such as scripts, materials, measurement instruments, methods, workflows, or other relevant resources.
In line with the principles of open science, the API journal recommends publishing databases and supplementary information in an open-access data repository, such as OSF or similar. When full data sharing is not possible for legal, ethical, or confidentiality reasons, authors must: (i) justify this, (ii) provide metadata, a dictionary of variables, syntax/code, and simulated or anonymised data to the extent possible, and (iii) describe the procedure for accessing the data under agreement.
