Objective and scope

Avances en Psicometría Iberoamericana (API) is a continuous publication scientific journal that brings together the psychometrics community. The journal publishes methodological, empirical research and systematic reviews. Original papers in Spanish and English are welcome.

The journal publishes studies on:

  • Theory and methods: Methodological studies on the development of quantitative models applied to measurement in psychology, such as new mathematical and statistical techniques for the evaluation of psychological data and the application of these techniques.
  • Development and adaptation of instruments: Original studies on the development or adaptation of measurement instruments that respond to a relevant and current issue in psychology.
  • Systematic reviews: Review studies and meta-analyses that follow international guidelines such as PRISMA, with a clear focus on the psychometric functioning of measurement instruments in psychology.
  • Complementary approaches: Studies that explore innovative applications of psychometric tools in educational, clinical, organisational, or technological contexts.

The international editorial team, through a double-blind peer review process, generates a trustworthy, high-quality channel of communication, within the ethical framework of the APA, the Declaration of Helsinki and COPE standards. All articles must have their dataset published prior to peer review. The journal's editors seek to ensure that published articles meet high standards of replicability and reproducibility. The journal has an editorial team and an international scientific committee, and is under the care of the Señor de Sipán University, is open access, and does not charge for publication. The journal publishes the accepted articles in Spanish and English.
